Holy Family Cell Group in hosted a Memorial Day picnic at a park in Westmont, Illinois.  About 80
people attended in all, enjoying food, fellowship, ball games, evening prayer, and praise
and worship.

On Memorial Day weekend, the Domestic cluster group in Westmont,
Illinois, hosted several out-of-town NC Region members for two
special events. The first was a day of reflection and spiritual
retreat with Sr. Carolyn Enders, BSC from Little Portion Hermitage, which took place on
Pentecost Sunday. Sr. Carolyn treated the Domestic brothers and sisters to two wonderful
sessions of teaching and discussion during the afternoon. The first session was focused on
how to handle the sufferings and trials of life in a godly way,
particularly through practicing the theological virtues of faith,
hope, and charity. The second "little portion" of excellent teaching
covered the ways we can foster unity in relationships and resolve
conflict appropriately. Sr. Carolyn shared several very good
principles to follow to help in reaching these two goals. In all,
both sessions were very helpful and sparked some good discussion
amongst all the attendees.

The second special event hosted this holiday weekend was a Memorial
Day picnic, held at a local Downers Grove park. As the pictures show,
it was a time for sharing good food, sports, great conversation, and
praise & worship time. The weather held out perfectly for this fun
event, and the park offered plenty of options to satisfy the mixture
of children and adults. 83 people attended in all, including BSC
Domestic members, friends from the local parish, and a few out-of-
town friends who traveled with our members.

During the first weekend in April, Regional Minister Andrew Billing
and his family traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to visit and
commission a new cell group in our North Central Region. The newly
formed Immaculate Conception cell group met in the home of postulants
Kurt and Anneleisa Filla, and included time for prayer, discussion,
and a commissioning ceremony. The new cell group includes two
permanently professed members who will serve as the cell group
leaders (Manny and Mercy Robles), along with other BSCD members and
friends from the greater Grand Rapids and Benton Harbor, Michigan,
areas.

Paul & Katherine Ricciardi Renew Commitment to Novitiate
Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God - January 1, 2007
Westmont, Illinois

On January 1st, two members of the North Central Region renewed their commitment to living as Novices in the Domestic Expression of the
Brothers and Sisters of Charity. Paul and Katherine Ricciardi of
Westmont, Illinois, renewed their commitments with our Regional
Minister, Andrew Billing, after Mass for the Feast of Mary, Mother of
God. The Ricciardi's had taken a one-year leave of absence from their
Novitiate in order to focus on the needs of their two-year old
daughter, Alicia, who was born with a serious heart condition. Alicia
is now doing very well, praise be to God, and Paul and Katherine are
eager to resume their formation studies as Novices. Many members of
Westmont's Holy Family Cluster Group were joined by family and
friends from the parish to witness and celebrate with the Ricciardi's.
