Sts. Antony (251-356) and Pachomius (292-348) of the Desert in their own way taught us contemplativeness, solitude and self-denial. St. Antony is considered the “father of monks,” and the hermit and hermit colony life. St. Pachomius represents community monasticism. Each sailed his own stream, going his own way of righteousness to the one and only great Ocean of Truth and Love which is God.
